Are you doing delayed cord clamping for your baby?

Just wondering who is doing that? I am still learning about it but I do not know too much about it.

We’re delaying until the cord stops pulsing, which is standard in our hospital. I don’t see a reason to delay beyond that.

it’s routine to do delayed cord clamping at the hospital where i will deliver even if you don’t ask

My hospital does 1 min delayed clamping. I had asked about it with my first and they said yes they do but only 1 min bc they had seen longer than one min the chances of jaundice go up significantly. I was okay with that and that’s what they did for my prior 2 kiddos.

Will be delaying until it stops pumping blood. With my first the hospital said they did delayed clamping which to them was apparently like 30 seconds? So I would clarify with your care team what that means to them before hand

Absolutely! The amount of blood that the chord provides to the baby while pulsing is outrageous. When I did my research and Informed myself about all that I had no excuse to not delay chord clamp.
