Is there a difference in “being in control” & “being controlled” in a relationship ?

I saw somewhere where the husband said I’m in control but I’m not controlling. Basically saying he is in control of the family but he’s not controlling is there a difference between the two? ￼

Yes. I take control when it comes to dinner or ideas on keeping us safe. But I don’t control every move anyone makes.

He needs to be the man of the house and be the security making sure you’re good, that’s the  being in control. Being controlled would look like he isn’t allowing you to see your friends, you can’t wear a skirt, your finances belong to him.

Yes, I think there is a difference between being in charge and managing ir leading, and trying to control others/not respecting their autonomy and boundaries.
