Labor Enema?

Question

Did anyone opt for an enema when they were admitted for labor? My birthing class teacher recommended it but my doctor seemed surprised when I asked about it. I’ve never had one before but do like the idea of being all “cleared out” going into labor. How uncomfortable is it really? Do folks recommend?

I don’t think that’s a real thing 😶 and even if you do poop, you probably won’t know unless you ask. They clean everything up very quickly. There’s so many fluids coming out of you I wouldn’t worry about it.

I never heard of that lol. No one said anything to me in labor at the hospital when I had my first child. 💩 is something drs are used to and it may not even happen. I did not poop! And honestly when you’re pushing you won’t even remember worrying about poop lol.

Lots of pooping before/during labor, no thanks. Pooping during active labor, normal and not a big deal.

So this is a old school thing it was thought to be linked to shortening first stage of labor. I will be having one once I’m admitted because I had such a long labor with my son and I’m willing to try anything. Plus they ain’t that bad I had to do them weekly at the end of my 1st pregnancy,  because I would go 5/6 days no bowel movement.

Never heard of it... and I wouldn’t want to do it lol. I’m sure it wouldn’t be horrible, but to me it seems unnecessary. If your gonna poop during labor your gonna poop, no big deal in my opinion haha

They see it daily, I wouldn’t worry about it
Apparently your body will have some loose stools before labor begins to clear you out beforehand
