If the tdap vaccine is good for 10 years do my family members need to get it again if they have had it in the last 10 years?

I am due in a few weeks and worried about whopping cough. All of my family members have been given the tdap vaccine in the last few years. That is protection for the baby right? I know I have to re-get mine because I am pregnant.

I discussed this with my OB, and she confirmed that I was the only one who needed to get it early because getting it during pregnancy passes antibodies on to the baby so she has some immunity. No need for my husband or family to renew it as long as they’ve been vaccinated in the last 10 years.

I'd ask your doctor what they recommend, for me personally if my family had gotten it in the last 10 years I didn't ask them to get it again, which all but 2-3 people in the whole family (boyfriend and I's combined) hadn't gotten it. The way it was explained to me, they were covered so they could get it again if they wanted to but it wasn't necessary.

You are the only person who needs it every pregnancy. Others don’t need it unless it’s been 10 years. 
I did make my husband get the tdap when our first was born because neither he or his mom could figure out when he had gotten his last. His PCP said it was definitely safe to get it earlier than 10 years.

When I asked my OB this she said the 10 years is fine for my husband and everyone else! Just you that needs it during pregnancy

I would check the regulation. I think they had changed it at some point to every 5 years. But if they’ve been vaccinated recently, it should be good enough.
