HCG blood test?

Is it normal for them to test your HCG levels when your first pregnant. I made my first obgyn appointment and I have to do labs and if the levels aren’t over 2000 i have to do it again? Anyone else have to do this?

In the US this seems to be a very common thing to do 
In the UK however we don't do this we check hcg levels for certain reasons only e.g. to confirm a miscarriage or ectopic

Yes, perfectly normal. They like to see the numbers double every 48-36 hours, so they know the pregnancy is continuing and on track.

My office does an HCG rise to check doubling time so I get checked twice. Some do it to make sure your HCG is high enough to see something on ultrasound
