Vacuum recommendations

I have two kids, a shedding dog and a cat who sheds more than all of us combined, lol. 
I need to buy a new vacuum but idk where to start. 
Hardwood and area carpet. Preferably under $300.

This isn’t the exact one I wanted, but I have a shark vaccum and it literally picks up everything. So much. I vaccum every week, if not more and I am always axed at how much it picks up. I found mine at Walmart. I didn’t get this one in the picture though.

We got this Dyson refurbished on eBay for much cheaper. Dyson sells their refurbished vacuums on eBay and it came with a warranty and appears and works like brand new!
