Heavier period with more clots

I’ve had the copper IUD for a year and a half now and after six months my periods regulated and I’d have one very heavy day where I bleed through tampons like crazy but the rest my period would be fine and it got down to about 6 to 8 days at most but this month my period has been extremely painful my cramps have made me want to cry and have made me nauseous I noticed a lot more and bigger blood clots and I’ve had three extremely heavy days where I bleed through tampons every 2 to 3 hours and today is my fourth heavy day (day 8 of period however) and it’s gotten slightly lighter and by that I mean I’m leaking through tampons every 3 to 4 hours instead 🙃 I’m not sure if anyone else experienced this and if something was wrong. I know I should go to the doctors but that’s gonna take a while and I’m just looking to see if anyone had this happen and what the cause it ended up being. nothing lifestyle wise has changed too much I did notice that certain positions during sex were becoming a little bit painful but nothing else has been different. I’m just starting to feel very frustrated and upset at this point 😣
