Would you ask for your money back after a breakup?

So this guy decides to end things with me, I don’t really care that much lol . That’s why I protected my Feelings so I won’t be affected if something like this happens. He’s a bit childish we’re both 22. But he bought me shoes a while ago, I told him keep it, I bought him a cologne and whatever. He did used to give me money while dating, but now he’s asking me back for $300. He’s like so can I get my 300$ back ? Lol. He never told me it’s a loan… I thought he was cool but since he said that to me, he is just a loser in disguise cause like who says that or is it just me? Who gives money just to ask for it back if it was a loan he could’ve said that and I would never even ask. Like why would he ask me if I still want the shoes he got me (as an actual gift) but ask for the 300$ he already gave me?
