Is this discrimination? Or Illgal?

I just finished recooping from Mono.  I work full time.  I have a work letter release for tomorrow. I was just by the doctor to be mindful about the enlarged spleen for 6-8 weeks. I told my boss this. Didn't seem to mind at the time. 
But tonight I get a text stating that I do not need to come in until Weds. Probably for the next 6-8 weeks. 
 Due to my restrictions. My job title is office assistant and med tech. So I do not know why my restrictions are an issue. Since I do not do much physical labor. 
   Now my boss said she had plans for me and that's why I can't come in anymore. My being sick inconvenienced her new plans that I wasn't aware of.  So because of her new plans...I lose hours?  
My restrictions do not interfere with my job. So I am just so confused at this point. I can't afford to lose hours.

Employers can't discriminate based on religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, or marital status, unless religion, national origin, age, height, weight, or sex is a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) that is reasonably necessary to normal business operations.
So I would probably say no, it's not discrimination.

Perhaps you can claim EI? I was able to when I was sick and my employer decided not to allow me to work, even though doctor and public health gave me the OK. It was covid related though so that probably had alot to do with it, not sure about mono. Unfortunately you were not discriminated against. Discrimination implies you were discriminated against based on your protected class, as someone listed already

She’s not discriminating however she is acting in a very bad manner and quite frankly I would issue a full investigation if a manager ever said that to an employee. Employers have a duty of care and she has broken this by causing you undo stress after a medical emergency.

As Mina mentioned, this does not fall under any categories of discrimination. Your employer has the right to restrict job duties if they believe there may be liability involved. Your post is kind of confusing because I can’t tell if you’ve been out for mono or your spleen. Or if you’ve been out for 6 weeks or will be out for 6 weeks? Regardless, they’re probably worried that if something happens to you while on the clock- they are legally and medically liable for it. They probably don’t want to assume the risk.

I would call HR. Your employer does not have any right to tell you not to come back due to a medical reason.

You should go out on FMLA or sick leave so your job is protected. If you are good to come back and released by a doctor then show up to work!

Where I’m from you would be put on paid leave if your employer decided you cannot do your job and that she cannot relocate you to a new position. You’d get 90% of your salary until you’re fit to go to work. 
But things are different depending where you are so you need to find out labour laws in your state
