Would you do this?

Question

Boyfriend of 8 years wants to get help for his opioid addiction, he wants to get on methadone to curb withdrawal and cravings. The thing is, he currently does not have a drivers license and for about 9 months he will have to go there every single day to get his dose, because they don’t let you take it home until you’ve been on it for a little while. It’s about a 25 minute drive away from his house. Would you drive him every single morning around 6am before work for 9 months, or until he gets his license?

If he's willing to make a change for the better, of course I'd want to help him out! Ya it may be out of your way, but you could potentially be saving him from having a future overdose. I think id take a little inconvenience for 9 months over potentially losing a loved one to drugs.

Yes, but I’m hoping he’s planning to get into a program like NA so that he can tackle the mental aspect of addiction too. I have a friend who’s been on methadone for about a decade and I don’t believe he has plans of ever getting off of it. He never joined any programs and it seems like he just swapped one drug for the other. He’s basically scared to get off it but that’s because he never actually put all of the work necessary in to beat this.

Yes. No questions asked I would do everything in my power to help my SO get clean.

I wouldn't be with someone who had an addiction like that. Life is complicated enough without adding a voluntary vice into the mix just mucking things up.
That just my opinion. Look, I get it...you guys have been together for a while and there are feelings there. What I would do, were I u and in your position, I would bite the bullet and take him with the understanding that this would be the last time I would be willing to assist him on this journey.
If after you do this he goes back to drugs, take it as your sign and save yourself.

You may inquire about transportation options with the provider. Methadone is an option, and there are some others he may qualify for over time. 
Personally, I’d do my best to support my partner in recovery. That said, every relationship is different.
