I don’t see why someone who has changed and bettered themselves shouldn’t be able to have children. I don’t support restricting reproduction anyway.

I’ve had students that live this. They live with grandma. They see dad and his new wife and family on holidays. Dad has three kids. Dad has the ability to get custody but won’t because he doesn’t have enough bedrooms as far as he is concerned. The student and his brother who live with their gram (who is declining Alzheimer’s so the boys are basically passed back and forth between their two aunts). If dad has his crap together enough to get married and have three more children, a nice home, stable career, etc but still has his children who WANT to be with him living with his elderly mother who struggles financially and emotionally...no. I think the dad is an ass and it’s really shitty to have gone on to have this nice life without them. When I had the one boy in class, he was acting out like crazy and I found out his dad surprised the new family with a trip to Disney and didn’t offer to take his other two. On the flip side, I am part of the foster system and some kids are much better off without their bio parents... It all entirely depends on the situation but I had a girl student who’s mom left her with gram and went to NYC. She never came back except for holidays. Whether or not the kids are better off, it still messes with them psychologically.

For me it would depend on why the child was taken away. Drug use sure because you can stop using drugs, not having a fit home yes because you can do better. Child molestation, beating the child, allowing them to be beaten or molesting an SO then no I don't think people who do that should have more children because I don't think those are behaviors so easily fixed.

I don't think they should have to spend the rest of their lives atoning for those bad choices (assuming we aren't talking about jail timr), so if they are able to responsibly provide for a child later in life, I feel they should be able to go on and live a full life, including additional children. Hopefully they can also maintain a relationship with their first child, as well.

If they’ve bettered themselves I don’t see why they wouldn’t also try to better the relationship with their child. If they can’t get custody back I’m sure they can still spend time with, get to know, and maybe even attend therapy with them together.
Either way if they don’t or do move on and have more kids the child/children who can’t be with them will always be hurt. They’ll feel like they weren’t good enough for their parent to make good choices and stay with them and will be jealous of the new kids (most of the time). 
They shouldn’t be punished for the rest of their lives but I do think they should realize and try to help lessen the pain of their child they can’t get back.

Depends on what it is.. my friend had munchausens by proxy and she harmed her baby.... 
She had him taken away from him and then since then she was trying to get pregnant when I told her my partner and I were trying.... she ended up having another one with some random guy she met on Tinder just to get pregnant.  She was sleeping with many people...
She's now had this baby taken away through her harming him!

I think it depends on what they did to lose them in the first place. If they were abusive towards them or something then absolutely not, people like that don’t deserve children.  Also if there’s a way to keep in touch with the existing children and the mother is choosing not to, I also think that’d be a no, if you can’t care about children you already have, don’t have more. But obviously in some circumstances it would be different.

It depends. Are your kids living with a relative and you can go and get them or did you give the kid up for adoption and you feel bad about that? Like it really depends
