Talking with your children
How much do you teach/talk about social justice with your children?
What is an appropriate age to start?
What are some of the conversations you have?
What are some of the limits you set, either consciously or because of your own discomfort, when talking to your children about issues?
Do you use any children’s books to help? If so, which ones have you found particularly great?
I ask because this is really important in my family (and in my classroom) and I wonder what kind of conversations happen in other homes and how intentional parents are at educating their children on various social issues.
Some examples could include but are not limited to racism, misogyny, gender conformity, gender stereotypes, indigenous rights and history, consent, boundaries, sexuality, masturbation, etc.
