Should women, mothers have more rights over their children?

This is a debate between me and my partner. I personally think if I carried my baby for 9 months that's a whole different experience and connection. I birthed my baby and for this reason I feel like I should always be the one who is the boss sort of thing. I love my partner and we do a good job together, BUT if we broke up... my daughter would be with me. Is this selfish? Why am I thinking like this! I just feel passionate towards us mothers and what we do to bring our babies in to this world.
