Pet alligator?

I’m currently living in NY, and have never seen an alligator.  We are moving to Florida in the next 18 months and I have been interested in alligators.  I know they are not traditionally kept as pets, but I have read online a few people that have had them as pets, and they do ok as long as they are trained well, and you don’t really bother them too much.  I would have a set up for him outside of course, and wouldn’t bother with him too much, and make a nice home for him.  I know it’s probably unlikely too many people here have had one as a pet, but I am hoping someone has, or knows someone who has that has had a good experience.  I do plan on training it, not me personally, but some sort of person who specializes in alligator training.  
*I don’t have small children or pets that are at risk*
*I am open to crocodiles too*

People think it's OK to have monkeys as pets too, but it's not. They are wild animals, get a bearded dragon or something else if you're specifically interested in reptiles.

I’m a Floridian born and raised and let me tell you, just go to the zoo, canoeing, boating in lakes and you’ll see PLENTY of alligators lol. I have no idea why anyone would ever want these beasts as a “pet” but to each their own. Just seems a little crazy to me. Get you a pet lizard or something that can’t engulf your entire body or rip all of your limbs off 🤣

As a Floridian, the type of people who try and keep alligators or crocs as pets are wild. They can’t be domesticated or trained. They’re wild animals. They’re a huge liability for insurance and incredibly costly to keep. What a dumb idea lol. Just get a reptile that’s meant to be a pet and leave our animals alone!

DO NOT DO THIS. They aren’t it domesticated. They are not meant to be pets. There is no way you can “make a good home” for an alligator. And crocodiles aren’t even supposed to be there. Unfortunately a lot of completely irresponsible people decided what they wanted was more important and got them. Surprise! They didn’t make good pets so they released them and now they’re breeding with alligators and making even more aggressive animals. If you want a pet get a dog or a cat or a bird. Leave wild animals alone. It’s cruel to them and bad for everyone when you try to make a pet out of something that has no business being a pet. You’ll see PLENTY of alligators, you isn’t need to own one.

Wild animals are not pets. I repeat, wild animals are not pets. An alligator looks at you like youre a weird looking pork chop. And a crocodile doesnt even belong in this country—they eat ACTUAL WILDERBEAST. What do you think its going to do to your femur?

Or just buy a house that has a lake behind the house. I guarantee you’ll have alligators in your backyard. And you would get sick of them. 
Also you need a license in Florida to own an alligator.

We don’t have gators we have crocs. They are legit physco… and I feel as tho u would need to be to keep one as a pet. They don’t just take an arm… they will take the whole person. If u were to see one in our body of water u start running and don’t look back cause they are faster on land than in water..
There is a reason they have outlived pretty much any species around them.
