Diagnosed with bronchitis

Hey mamas. I am 21 weeks pregnant today. I had a regular cold for about a week that turned into a really violent cough for an additional week and hadn’t slept in 4 days bc the cough is the worst at night. We finally decided to go to the ER about it bc we felt like it was being downplayed by my midwife. They diagnosed bronchitis. I can’t in good conscience take the “safe” medicine, i.e; Mucinex or Robitussin, so I’m dealing with it with lots of fluids and the humidifier and hot showers… I have been very nervous that all of this really hard coughing is harmful to my baby. I have been told it’s not, but I keep worrying. It’s so bad that my back and belly are extremely sore. Has anyone had bronchitis while pregnant and baby is totally fine? Or have any other calming advice? Thank you so much in advance.
