So is his argument that it’s the government’s responsibility to clean up after his lazy littering ass? What you do when he says something idiotic like “Why won’t you litter because I pay taxes?” You roll your eyes at him & say “Because I’m perfectly capable of putting this garbage on the floor of the car until I am at a place where I can throw it in a garbage can like a civilized person who cares about the world we live in & doesn’t want to see it covered in trash.”

Oh wow. Okay I couldn’t understand your post at first. Your boyfriend sucks and is everything that’s wrong with the world. People really think they and their precious time/ego/most minuscule “inconvenience” matters more than the wellness of our planet 🤦‍♀️ What does it matter if people are supposed to clean up? First of all a lot of garbage flies into sewers or any other spot before anyone is there to pick it up. Not only is his mentality trashing our planet and communities, but many animals can eat the trash and choke or get hurt etc. A lot of garbage ends up in our waterways via sewers so then it ends up in our oceans and beaches. (Not to mention the bellies of mammals/birds) I mean, I mop the floors of my apartment, does that mean I should just throw spaghetti all over the floor when I’m done? No! Why would I make things worse for myself? Why create more filth than I have to? It’s important to be (environmentally) conscious. In Japan there’s barely trash bins because it’s custom to hold your garbage until you can throw it away. Why doesn’t he just destroy the road to his house if taxes will fix it? Why shoot yourself in the foot just cause you have a doctor? He needs to get over himself.
