Postpartum bleeding. is this normal?

I had my baby 11 days ago and about 2 days ago my bleeding went from normal “period” bleeding to stopped and this morning it’s picked up again to being like a period with some small clots. Should I be concerned?

It’s pretty normal! I bled heavily for two weeks and I had on and off bleeding for another month or so. I’m now nearly three months postpartum and I still spot every now and again. My midwife said it’s completely normal, just takes a while for things to go back to the way they were. But if you have bigger than normal clots (like golf ball size) or anything that seems concerning, definitely reach out to your doctor! Better to ask questions than to let it go untreated.

I always get increased bleeding around day 10. With my 1st and 3rd I had a big clot pass at that timeframe. Both of the midwives Ive had said it is around that time that the scab where the placenta was sloughs off, which can cause increased bleeding.

My doctor said not worry unless I went through a pad in an hour. It did stop and start for about the first 8 weeks.
