Will I go to jail.?

If I had the option to pay my citation or go to court and I chose court is there any chance I will go to jail. It was for paraphernalia I’m in TX. I have no warrants btw. It’s class C. Just want it off my record...

I had 2 paraphernalia charges.  I didn't have a lawyer. I had to do a drug course online and got both charges dropped.

If you didn’t go to jail when you got the charge it’s unlikely you’ll go to jail if you go to court. I’ve had 3 (???) paraphernalia charges, 3 (????) weed charges and I only went to jail once,  the last time, for having a scale, “ 1/2 oz up to 1 1/2 ounces” and resisting arrest. The first time all I got was community service. I got community service a second time but didn’t do it so I got 1 year probation. You’ll be fine. I feel like you’ve asked this 100 times.

I’m not sure about Texas laws but where I’m from, you can plea in abeyance. Basically means you admit you did it, but you’ll never do it again. If they accept the plea then you’ll be given a probation period (you won’t be under any kind of arrest or monitoring) and if you don’t get in any legal trouble during this time, your charge drops of your record. If you do get in legal trouble, your charge will stay on your record on top of your new charges.

It depends on your judge, etc, but you will most likely pay fines and costs, as well as most likely have your license suspended for at least 180 days. You may need to attend a drug program or do community service. Usually Class C misdemeanors don’t carry any jail time. It will show on your background check for 7 years, once 7 years has passed, most background screening companies can not report this to possible future employers/schools
