Have you ever used a babysitting website like care.com?

My husband and I live far from family and never get to have time alone. I would love to be able to find a nice babysitter I like once every two weeks to watch my 5 year old and 4 month old... but unsure as I’ve stayed away from these sites for so long. 
How do you find babysitters you like? There’s gotta be some high school kids in need of babysitting $ even in my neighborhood but unsure how to find them (don’t use Facebook). 
What do you guys use to find a reliable, safe babysitter?

I was a nanny who used care.com and can tell I had to jump through hoops and get background checked to post my profile there.  I met some fabulous families though and stayed with one for 6 years.  I would highly recommend it!

I haven't used it as a parent but i used it as a babysitter looking for work. I found a wonderful family that ive been babysitting for for 10 years. It's a great resourse.

I think care.com is good, anyone who registers to be a caregiver on there now has to take a background check

It might be worth joining Facebook. Most neighbourhoods have a Facebook page and that’s a great place to find sitters. On my neighbourhood Facebook page I’ve seen a few times people posting asking for babysitter recommendations and there’s always lots of responses.

Check with your friends or work friends to see who they use or if they have a teenager that will baby sit

You don't need to use FB for the social media aspect of it but it is worth it to create an account to join your local and neighborhood groups for purposes like this.  There are multiple high school and college age kids in them posting looking to babysit. I'd ask neighbors who they've used or if they know of anyone.  Then I'd check a care type site.
