Developing gestational diabetes?

Question

I’m currently taking my 3 hour test. I’m 35 & 3 days far along. Third pregnancy, first time being tested for it. 
IF it’s determined I have developed gestational diabetes..what happens? Lol 👀
Is there a severity level of it? 
How is baby affected? If at all this close to birth?
*Diabetes does NOT run in my family 
*I may have brought this on myself as I have consumed sweets slightly more this pregnancy

You’ll be told to watch your carbs in the beginning, and stick to a 3 meal 2 snack per day plan. I was never given a precise number of grams of carbs per meal but I’ve seen others that have over here. You’ll have to test your glucose levels multiple times a day. Risks to the baby include high birth weight and inability to self regulate glucose after birth. There are levels to GD. You can either control it through diet and exercise, or require medication such as insulin shots once or more per day. Read more about it online. It is not caused by your diet, it’s a placenta deficiency.

I was diagnosed at 28 weeks, I have to check all the labels in foods they will give you a information about it too, you have to check your glucose 4 times a day, fasting and 2 hours after each meal I have to eat 45g of carbohydrates every meal and 15 for snack

It's nothing you have done its your placenta and how it deals with glucose, I was diagnosed at 28 weeks and started with diet control (you can have sugar free drinks and different people can tolerate different things)  you have to do a small finger prick 4 times a day to check your levels, for me my body becomes more resistant as time goes on so now at 35 weeks I have diet control, finger pricks, tablets 4 times a day and insulin 3 times a day...baby is fine tho measuring on the big side and likely to be Induced at 37 weeks but his at no more risk than other babies of getting diabestes and as soon as his born mine should dissappear, they heel prick them more than usual to monitor thier bloods when born 😊 don't worry you get some crazy strength when it's for your baby!

I was diagnosed at 28 weeks. Initially I tested my sugar fasting, and then two hrs after breakfast lunch and dinner. I found out pretty quickly what foods would make my sugar high. So I cut that stuff out. Mainly bread and sweets was my issue. No soda or anything with much carbs or sugar. My sugar levels started being so good my doc lets me spot check a couple times a day ☺️ also I have found I can still have sweets here and there like once or twice weekly and my numbers stay good. Every doc is different in what they want levels to be. For mine fasting is below 105 ( usually in high 80’s or low 90’s) and then two hrs after meals they want no higher than 140 ( mine is usually below or in the 120’s) .

Ok ok. My first three blood draws were good. I’m aware the lab tech can’t tell me anything officially but she did tell me I “passed”..& I left after the 4th blood draw so now I’ll just a wait the phone call or for my next appt to see if I’m diagnosed officially by my OB. I feel pretty positive that I’m not going to be diagnosed. I appreciate the input . Hopefully that’s the case.
