I was asked if an ultrasound was mine at a family dinner
I went out to eat with my husbands family for my father-in-law’s birthday. There were about 40 of us. His father received an unmarked envelope at the table with ultrasounds of a baby in the womb. He held them up and asked if they were mine. He had tears in his eyes. They weren’t, but dammit, I wish they were. Why is everyone allowed to have a baby except for me. I’m not even having fun anymore.
They were my sister-in-law’s. I’m happy for her. But I’m so sad. Like really, really sad.
