Can some one explain BBT?

I know it means basal body temperature but what exactly will that tell me?

BBT can be used to confirm when ovulation has happened. I’ve used it for 5+ years in two ways - both to avoid pregnancy, and to successfully conceive twice. If you do it consistently and correctly you can get a really good understanding of your cycles that can make it easier to know when to TTC or avoid pregnancy too. You need to put the time and effort into learning how to do it correctly and understanding your readings but I think it’s fascinating.

Answer

The quick version is that it confirms the day you ovulated. Your body experiences a quick temperature dip followed by a consistent temperature rise after the egg has been released. So by tracking daily you can see this rise has happened if it’s consistent. But it only confirms it 3 days AFTER you ovulated, which if you’re TTC is helpful only if you’re pretty regular. I personally liked OPK’s way better. Those predict ovulation BEFORE it happens. It also has much less user error in my opinion. The most hardcore method is to do them both
