Counting OCD?

Question

Does anyone suffer from OCD in the form of obsessive counting? I’ve done this my whole life but I recently learned it isn’t normal and not everyone does it.

Yes, I do this, have to count everything, poles, signs, cracks, whatever, then I’m always running number in my head.

Same. Counting everything from shadows in between trees in the car, to how many teeth I can touch with my tongue. Everything had to be even as well if it wasn’t then I felt off lol 
You’re not alone. My diagnosed OCD is what makes me realize these little things I do now.

Yup. Since I was 4. I started counting telephone poles. It was a game while in the car. Then it turned into counting drinks I take. Counting down with the microwave and stopping it before it beeps. I click my jaw left and right while counting until it feels right. And muscle spasms.. I’ve been in therapy for years because of other issues. OCD has no cure and doesn’t have to be a problem. It becomes a problem when it harms you or adds danger. Counting isn’t hurting you or others, right?

Yes, I have to count and organize. I was diagnosed with OCD a few years ago. It makes me feel complete and whole, and sane I guess.  It doesn't hurt anyone, nor myself.

Yup I have to count everything and anything I do so that it lands on an odd number. Even down to the smallest thing like…eating skittles…I have to eat an odd number of pieces.

I do. It's even numbers for me, especially 8,/16/32/64/ etc. Specific counting evens. It started back when I was deep in an eating disorder, and it never really stopped. I've recovered for the most part since and the counting has gotten better, but I still do it daily.

Yeah there are 4 types of OCD and I used to do this a lot. 
It's more common that you think but still part of OCD. Did your psychologist or whoever diagnosed you tell you anything helpful to do for it?
I've got perfectionist OCD but when I'm very stressed I do repetitive things

Interesting, I don't think I could do that automatically. It would be distracting trying to hold the numbers in my head while doing other things.
I'm not OCD and don't know much about it
