Cold sore?

I'm absolutely freaking out. I just had a baby Monday and I have noticed today I've got a cold sore!!! This is the first time I've ever had one and I'm so scared that I'm going to hurt my baby. I've gotten cold sore creams and I have it constantly covered with a bandaid and I've been hand sanitizer every time I touch my face even though the blister is covered. Is my baby going to be okay??? Should I tell her pediatrician??? As soon as I saw that I was getting one I immediately told everyone in the house to not kiss the baby AT ALL. Should everything be okay???

80% of the world has HSV1. It’s not a big deal. Just don’t kiss the baby or touch your cold sore and everyone will be fine.

Relax and don’t cover it. It needs to heal. Use lemon balm. Just wash your hands and don’t kiss baby until it’s gone and healed- completely gone plus a few days. Having HSV1 doesn’t mean you’ll give it to everyone. It’s likely you’re having an outbreak because giving birth is tough on the body, stress causes an outbreak. I have cold sores. None of my children do and neither does my partner. No you don’t need to tell the pediatrician.

It will be ok, mama. Call your doctor and let them know and they will most likely prescribe you an antiviral that will help. Just keep doing what you are doing and wash your hands when you touch your face/ mouth. Try not to stress, as it may make it worse. I get cold sore and got them after I gave birth and a  few here and there since. My toddler is 20 months and still has never gotten one.
