16 year old on trip with 18 year old

so i am 16, i grew up having anxiety and this is the first time in my entire life that i am hanging out with people and feel comfortable to leave home without a family member. i have my permit and i get my license in august. i am very comfortable with driving and actually enjoy it to an extent. my parents don’t have trouble out of me besides every once in a while when i will catch an attitude but i realize my mistakes. i have pretty good relationships with my parents. anyways, my best friend is a senior (i’m a junior) she turned 18 a few months ago. i feel very comfortable with her and she is very responsible (has her own apartment and is able to pay for it) me and her were talking about taking a road trip this fall. our school lets us have a week off in october and wanted to go then. we were thinking massachusets or the new england area. my parents are still discussing and having a hard time deciding if i should go or not. from the info i just gave what do y’all think? edit: my parents know her and have met her a couple of times but do not know her very well. we hang out 2x a week at least.
