Did a membrane sweep work for your first baby?

I’m 39w5d. Yesterday my midwife tried and I wasn’t dilated so couldn’t do it. Today they tried again and I was 1cm so managed to do one. Just wondering what my chances are of it bringing on labour with my first baby. Thanks :)

Had one with my first at 39+5 I had her the next morning. With my second I had one at 38w & my water broke at 38+6. I think they both helped speed up the process for me personally. It’s different for everyone.

Didnt work for me. Had one at 38+2 when i was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. Didnt go into labor until a week later

I had one at 39+3 and literally started contractions on the way home! I labored for a day at home, then eventually had him at 39+5.

I my membrane sweep on a Monday (39 weeks 1 day). Water broke around 1 or 2 am Tuesday (39 weeks 2 days). He was born in the afternoon on Wednesday (39 weeks 3 days).

It worked for me 39w. I started contractions a few hours after and gave birth the next day. I think it’s important to note that if your body hasnt progressed in anyway that it probably wont work. My ob wont do it unless your at least 2-3cm dilated. Also if your cervix is high and hard to reach it probably wont work either cause they really have to get in there

On my due date (8/24) I had a membrane sweep at 5pm. By 8:30pm I was having contractions. 11pm water broke! 2:35pm (8/25) little boy was born.

I had a 'failed' membrane sweep at 38+5. My midwife attempted it but said that my body was nowhere near ready for labour as my cervix was completely shut but my daughter ended up being born 2 days later x
