Any other autism mamas?

My baby girl was officially diagnosed about two weeks ago with level two autism! It's nice to have some answers but now I'm left wondering what to do next.. I want to do/be the best for my baby girl so any advice would be appreciated 💗 pics of my sweet girl just for fun!

Would you mind sharing what were the first “symptoms” that led you to get her evaluated? Maybe I’m just too much in my head after seeing lots of tiktoks but I’m beginning to think I may need to get my little one evaluated.

My oldest has autism. It’s great you got an early diagnosis so she can start therapy soon! My daughter is non-verbal and I can tell she’s been very frustrated lately and is hurting herself (she bangs her head on things). My daughter usually acts like this when she is working on a leap, so I hope things settle down with her soon! My daughter wasn’t diagnosed until 4 years old, however she was already in therapy because she also has Down syndrome. Some days are frustrating as a parent because you just want to help them master something but it takes a lot more time. Other days are very rewarding because you see a positive change! The hardest thing for me is letting her go to school and not getting a lot of info about how her days went unless she had a tough day. She can’t tell me what kind of day she had and last year communication was mostly “she was in a good mood, she was happy”. If you have a solid communication tool that works for your daughter, I think that would be really helpful! So far, my daughter hasn’t really picked up on various types of communication (she rarely will use sign language and won’t point to things). Once she starts therapy, if her therapist doesn’t seem like a good fit, find a new one! Don’t stay with a therapist that isn’t working for either of you.

Ellie was diagnosed back in April (okay I’ve already forgotten lol). We are going the Denver Model and as a former ABA therapist, I am vehemently against ABA and refuse to submit her to compliance based therapies. Feel free to reach out! We are doing a variation of multiple techniques and it’s been so successful! ❤️
