No Fetal Pole and HCG over 10,000

CJ

Long post ahead, but looking for some happy endings and insight! Yesterday I had my first transvaginal scan at 5 weeks 4 days. My gestational sac measured perfect for that timing and both the tech and doctor said there was a good looking outer edge of the sac as well. We could also see the yolk sac that looked right as well. Now here is where it gets weird. The tech seemed very upbeat and said there's no fetal pole yet, but it can just be a little early for that yet. Now fast forward to me meeting with my OB and he seemed very straightforward

as he always has been. But also very gloom and doom that there should indeed already be a visible fetal pole since my HCG is over 10,000. He said "Clinically there will be a visible fetal pole in 99% of pregnancies that is visible on U/S one those levels are reached. My thoughts are that can't possibly be a set standard? Right? My levels were already 3497 at 18dpo, so they would have reached 10,000 shortly after that with the proper doubling time. And that would have been within the 4 week mark and its impossible to see a HB at 4 weeks! I guess what I am asking is ...

1. When did you see the fetal pole at 5wks 4 days?

2. Did your OB ever mention a correlation between HCG and fetal pole development? I have added a photo of the scan from yesterday.
