Should I feel worried for our relationship ?

I currently feel super insecure in my relationship with my boyfriend. We’ve been together for two years now and wow do we have something special but we’ve also had our ups and downs.. he’s 23 and im 21. Im so ready to marry this man and take his last name it makes me wanna cry like I absolutely cannot wait. Him on the other hand, he says he isn’t ready for marriage. He says he still has some work to do on himself before he feels like he can be the husband he should be for more and also financial reasons.
It seems like ever since we had that talk, our relationship is just crumbling. I feel so distant and insecure now

I think he is making a smart decision. He cannot be the husband you want him to be before he discovers himself. Before marriage focusing on himself is very important

Stop putting so much emphasis on this, I can guarantee right now he is probably just as worried that because he said he isn’t ready that he’s going to lose you.
I think it’s great that he wants to do more growing and was honest about not being ready. He is literally working on self improvement to make sure is the kind of man that is worthy of being your husband in the future. Everything will happen in due time. Give him the time to grow as an individual person and revisit marriage later on. Don’t be in such a rush. Enjoy the relationship as is and the commitment will come later.

I think now is the time to have a deeper talk with him about it. What things does he want to accomplish before getting married? Ask him to be as specific as possible. Maybe it's getting a better job and being financially secure, maybe it's traveling more, maybe it's just enjoying his twenties. Either way, get a genuine answer. 
Follow it up with a time frame for when he wants it accomplished by. Goals have end dates, if he just has the idea without the ambition to get it done then it just sounds like he can't make up his mind and is dragging you along because he doesn't want to lose you. Based on his answers, go from there to decide if this is a relationship you want to continue building on. 
If he doesn't think he'll be ready for another 10 years and you were ready to get married yesterday then maybe consider if this is a compromise you're willing to make. If he is working to be ready in the next 2-3 years then that's different. Either way, talk with him about his expectations and make your expectations clear as well. Good luck!
