Should my bf hype me up?

I don’t remember the last time my boyfriend complimented my “inside qualities” (personality for example). 
We’ve been together for three years, and he compliments my appearance, but rarely anything else. I compliment him regularly and I’ve brought up my desire for recognition about my inner qualities, should I bring it up again?

You can’t demand something from someone that doesn’t come naturally to them. It’s like pulling teeth. You’re expecting him to change to accommodate your need for validation 
I personally would find it super awkward if my husband asked me to continually compliment his “inner qualities” 
I would feel like I’m being forced to say something 
I tend to do it anyway cause I’m an expressive type, but it’s weird to me to demand he compliment your personality 
His relationship is a testament that he likes your personality 
Your bf compliments you and that’s great. I think you should chill with the specific requests for what kind of compliments 
And if you’re that intent, ask him randomly “what’s your top 3 favourite qualities about me that aren’t looks”
