Doing it for all the women out there!
What do you think of the phrase “I’m doing this to prove that women can!”
I didn’t really think about this too much because I knew that this was a common phrase since the “we can do it” ad. But my husband pointed out in the show “Alone” about a woman who had to survive in I think Alaska stranded for 60 days (I think). She was really close, but then the production company had to stop her because she had frostbite on her foot. She kept saying she had to do it to prove woman could, and for all women out there. It really upset him because he believes she shouldn’t do it for “all women out there” but for herself.
I can definitely see his side a little. By making it for all women it emphasizes a stereotype and makes it kinda sexists?
