Has anyone’s obgyn made you pay out of pocket for these tests? The prices are outrageous, and I’ve never had these tests in my previous two pregnancies. He’s trying to tell me it’s mandatory. I’ve never heard of this.

I have had all of these tests done multiple times, but I have an auto immune disease and history of miscarriage. Insurance covered it. Insurance not covering it makes it seem like it’s unnecessary to me?! Do you have any health concerns or a history of miscarriage?

From what I know these are tests that are run when they're trying to find the cause of recurrent miscarriage and not something that would be routinely run during pregnancy. I don't think they are necessary unless you're having some type of complication and they cannot force you to have the tests run. You are always allowed to decline any medical procedure or testing.

I was told NIPT testing is optional, so insurance won’t cover that, but it’s less than $200 from the lab that works with my Obs office, It seems super fishy to be “requiring” tests that aren’t covered by insurance

Hmmm... I can't say I've ever had these tests ordered in any of my pregnancies. I would still assume that most insurance plans are going to consider them elective if the OB is immediately showing self pay options.

That is really blurry. Are these from the NIPT testing? If so, most insurance don't cover them and they prepare you to pay out of pocket. Can you post a photo that is more clear?
