Milk is in, but should I try to pump too?

My baby boy is now 4 days old and my milk has came in. He only wants to nurse for 10 minutes, if that everytime he nurses, but then he sleeps and is making lots of poop diapers, so he's getting enough. I am nervous though because after nursing my boobs still feel fuller and my right one feels like it has a knot in it. I tried pumping once last night but I got nothing at all, but if I hand express I leak all over my hand. Any advice?

You can pump if you need to build a supply for going back to work but otherwise, your baby will help your body determine how much milk you need.
It’s a positive feedback loop; the more times your breasts are stimulated, the more milk your brain will produce.
Pumping to relieve engorgement might cause the opposite effect and cause you get more engorged. Applying some heat on your breasts might make them feel better and relieve the knots.

Your milk supply will regulate by baby needs by  day 10. Do not pump, as you will produce more milk. If your breast are engorged and in pain, take a warm shower, massage breasts and try to express a little by hands.

Ibuprofen cold packs cabbage leaves all reduce the swelling in engorged breasts. This happened to me 1 week ago.
Hand pump with a Hakka won't stimulate more milk but rather release excessive and reduce swelling. Try this AFTER your last feed of the night. It'll take about a week to fully reduce depending on how engorged your breasts are!
