Baby swimming?

How old until you can take your baby swimming? My baby is two months old:)

Aside from the water temperature, the chemicals in the pool are not good for their skin and especially bad if they get some in their mouth. Keep that in mind. No rule says you can’t take them but probably best to avoid it until a little older. I’m waiting until around 6 months or more personally.

We took our daughter (now 3 years old) to swim lessons at 8 weeks. Precautions as the others posted. She’s a fish now and loves the water!

I took mine in a pool. Salt water at 3 months.

I’ve taken my 3 month old swimming a couple times now in pools and lakes/rivers starting when she was 1 month. I just make sure no water gets in her mouth, ears, eyes and nose.

All 5 of my kids had their first swim in a pool at 2-3 weeks no problems at all.

My little guy is 2 months old and just started swim class last week. The class is for 2-6 month olds. He loves it and I just make sure the water doesn’t get into his mouth.

I took my little one when he was 7 weeks. My midwife said as long as the pool is warm you are good. My pool was at 90 degrees. We made sure he stayed warm and was comfortable. My understanding is that’s the “worry” with putting babies in the water is that it’s too cold and they aren’t able to regulate their body temperature.
