Maybe a period???

So the day before my period I started spotting the bleeding did pick up by the next day but nowhere near as heavy as my regular flow, it also didn’t feel like I was menstruating none of the usual painful cramps I’d usually experience just a little light bleeding for a few days but here I am 9 days in on period not sure if I should be counting these days with spotting or not but now I am starting to feel cramps as if my period is just getting ready to start. I called my obgyn office and spoke with the nurse and she says to take a test to rule out pregnancy and if the spotting continues to schedule an apt... has anyone else experienced anything like this or similar? Where you pregnant?? I just had a baby 12/31/2020 so I’m really nervous to take a test.
