Hungry newborn!

Rachel

My baby is exactly a week earthside today, but she’s actually a preemie. They aren’t sure her exact adjusted age because we all thought I was full term til she was born. Long story. We’re going to guess that she’s a little over 36 weeks right now, not quite 37.

Anyways. Originally the hospital had us under feeding her, then I started feeding at least an ounce every 2 hours or if she was hungry a little sooner I’d feed her. The longest I ever let her go if she’s asleep is 3 hours. I’ll feed her 2 ounces now as she’s been demanding it. Today, she ate 2 ounces and 30 minutes later wanted more.

I read about cluster feedings but I thought it would be a few weeks before then? How much should I be feeding my little one? Is there such thing as too much?

These may be dumb questions, but my mother has passed on so I don’t have her to ask.
