Can a doctor prescribe you something else for pain if your an addict?

So my sister has been clean of heron for almost 3 years and she called me the other day telling me that she needs to get a tooth implant. I didn’t think about it until now, won’t they prescribe her Percocet or something for the pain? I’m just worried she will start using again due to the pain meds. What else can they prescribe for pain?

It's really up to her to stay clean. If she wants to disclose that she's an addict and doesn't want prescribed pain killers,  that's on her. If she gets the Rx and fills it and takes them, that's on her. She can simply decline any Rx and stick with Tylenol. That's on her. I have a friend who was addicted to his back pain meds for a while but got off them. Had oral surgery recently and toughed it out without pain meds because the fear of getting hooked again was too much for him. So her choices are in her hands.

They could give her non narcotics-they won’t help with the pain as well but aren’t as addictive (if at all?) though I imagine she’d have to specify she doesn’t want narcotics. I’m not sure what they’d prescribe specifically they could recommend Tylenol depending on how bad the recovery is/isn’t.

I understand your worry but maybe you should just trust your sister. If she thinks she can handle it then she can. She chooses to stay clean, she didn't have to.  
If the doctor will prescribe her that, then she is probably going to need it. Mouth pain is very sensitive and constant, exspecially when having something like that done.  
If she's concerned then she should ask her doctor about alternatives. Given they don't work for the pain like the others. For some they don't help at all.  
And just saying, just because she was addicted to one this doesn't automatically mean she'll get addicted to another or relapse.

When I had my molars removed I didn’t even take the Percocet because they make me sick, the pain Can be managed with ice packs/Tylenol
