Possible luteal phase defect/low progesterone
Hi friends,
Just wanting to see if anyone has dealt with situation similar to mine and ended up having successful pregnancy.
I got off birth control in December 2020. I was on the pill for about 11 years. I immediately started TTC. I’ve been tracking my cycles using OPKs. I was also temping each morning for a few months, but it was contributing to stress. My OPKs are showing that I am getting an LH surge each month. And then my period comes about 10 days later after spotting for about a day, making my luteal phase only 8-9 days. I’ve read that it’s supposed to be closer to 12-14 days. I am getting my progesterone levels checked on Monday. I will be 7dpo.
Has anyone had luteal phases less than 10 days and had their progesterone checked? If it was low, what did they do for you? I know there are progesterone supplements that are in the form of or tablets or vaginal suppositories. I’m really hoping if I need a supplement, it’ll be the tablets because there’s no way I can afford $600 for a 15 day supply of suppositories each month. The tablets are closer to $45 a month. My employer’s insurance does not cover fertility treatments or medications of any type. Has anyone had luck with progesterone tablets and was able to carry a successful pregnancy? I’m feeling so discouraged. We are on cycle 10, feeling hopeless that our odds are much lower because of my short luteal phase.
***I’ve tried to lengthen my luteal phase on my own through vitamin C and B6. This didn’t do much for me. And my esthetician recommended I stop the B6 because it could be contributing to my acne. I’m in the process of trying to lose weight by working out and cleaning up my diet to see if this will help my struggles TTC and with acne, but kinda hoping my doctor can help me with supplements.
Someone please tell me they were able to carry a successful pregnancy with the same problems I’m having! 😭
