My work is mandating COVID vaccine to all workers, due to being a healthcare place. Mind you, I am currently a working from home with NO patient contact. They still are requiring I paperwork regarding exemption due to medical issue or defer because of pregnancy. I have always known I would get the vaccine but wanted to ensure it was safe due to my own health. I’ve had episodes of SVT with heart rate in the 170s and am prone to blood clots. I asked OB for deferment while I undergo more cardiology work up to ensure I can safely get the vaccine, especially since I have had more recent SVT episodes. OB said she wouldn’t sign form since pregnancy was not an exemption. I reiterated that I am not seeking exemption due to pregnancy but due to cardiac issues which seem to only occur during pregnancy. PCP declined to sign it as well, just waiting to hear from cardiologist. This is super frustrating considering the deadlines to submit paperwork is Monday for exemption. I’m not declining, simply asking for deferment while I get more cardiac work ups. I am know all the science and believe it, just advocating for myself and health.😡 Ok, end of rant.
