School starting?

Question

Anyone else really freaked out that schools starting back up? Covid definitely isn't gone and they're not even giving the option to do remote this year. Do you think it should be a personal choice to send your kids to school or not during a pandemic? I know homeschooling entirely isn't an option for some. I would love some opinions! :)

I am not nervous. Our kids went in person all last year and everything was just fine. COVID is not ever going anywhere. We have to learn to live with it.

COVID, like pretty much any other virus, is not going anywhere. My sons schools takes its precaution. I’m not going to put my sons life on hold for something that will not be going away

My kids started school Tuesday 8/11. My 9 year olds teacher was there the first day, and not back since. By Friday, there were two confirmed cases in her class, one adult (likely the teacher) and one student. We were notified the following Monday, but told to keep sending her (we didn’t). By Wednesday afternoon, there were 4 confirmed cases and all the kids were sent home to do independent study for two days. They can all go back tomorrow, apparently. 
My almost 12 year old’s teacher told the class he wasn’t the “mask police” when a handful of students didn’t put their masks back on after lunch. Umm, screw you asshole, you most certainly ARE the mask police in a classroom full of kids too young to be vaccinated. 
It’s terrifying.

my 7yr old is homeschooled but they have homeschooling events to help them socialize, we most likely will not be attending them unless they’re online. the only time he’s exposed to other children is at soccer or baseball. i can’t risk it, i have a little baby and an autoimmune disease. my house gets tested every other week (my husbands job requires it), so far no positives yet and we plan on keeping it like that.

My school has been in session since July no mask mandate until last week. We also went back all year last year. I can't live in fear so I hope that you can find peace some way. 
Living in fear brought on anxiety and depression for me. It was awful and I won't to there again if I can help it

I was nervous about my son starting back but he is one who can't do virtual learning. His school started back on 8/9 (masks optional). When I picked him up on 8/12 he was complaining of a headache (which he never does) and when we got home he was running a 102.5 fever. I took him to the doctor and he tested positive for Covid. His class plus 2 others in his school are quarantined due to Covid. He is able to return tomorrow since he is symptom free. Not trying to scare anyone just letting people know this is real and is spreading like a wildfire through kids.

I was definitely nervous about having to possibly send my baby to daycare at 12 weeks old because I work for a college and cannot do remote for more than maybe 1-2 days per week. But my in-laws are about to get monthly VA benefits (finally) and my MIL already offered to be a full-time nanny for us and quit her job. They currently live with us, so it’s a no brainer. 
I absolutely think all children should be given the option of remaining remote or homeschooling where possible. Especially since there is so much backlash against mask mandates.

As a nurse I'm definitely worried about school starting. It's pretty scary that after almost 2 years some people still don't care about covid. I love when people try to tell me that it can't be that bad working in a hospital 🤣 people that work office jobs too. LIKE DUDE, every single person I work with in the hospital hates their job right now and it's a common occurrence to see someone crying in the nurses station

🤷‍♀️ if the world stopped like many people wanted to do half of the world would freeze an  other half would burn.no if you don't want them Todo School in a public school then you need to look for online.  from every person that I've heard then their kids are going back to school they are grateful the school back opening. they can actually get back to work or look for jobs.

I’m beyond anxious for my 5 year old to start kindergarten tomorrow. It’s his first day of school ever since preschool didn’t happen due to covid last year. Our state made it illegal to enforce masks in schools at the end of last school year so it’s just optional. My son will be wearing a mask but I know that many kids won’t be and it scares me to be honest. I don’t get why wearing a mask is such a big deal. It’s such a simple thing to do that can help keep these kids healthy. I’m very scared of him getting sick with covid. I had it last year and I was the sickest I have ever been in my life. The amount of pain I was in was the worst I ever experienced. It’s not just a cold or a flu like many people like to think. His school has many hand sanitizing stations and he’s very good about washing his hands but I can’t trust that other kids are the same way.
