Rowyn’s arrival
On Aug 20th at 40w + 5d I was induced to deliver my fourth (and last) baby. Such a powerful, bittersweet experience. Had a quick 8 hour labor start to finish, and delivered our biggest baby yet! 8.5lbs 20.5” long. She’s beautiful, strong, and healthy. Had a fairly smooth birth - got an epidural around 6cm dilated, no regrets. They kept it at a low level to keep pain manageable but I could definitely feel contractions enough to push, and even move my legs through the whole process (helped so I could position myself as necessary). Unfortunately I did have a second degree tear (and feel it - ow) and need stitches for the first time since our first baby 9 years ago.
To our surprise, we changed her name at the last minute! Poor babe didn’t have a name for 2 days because once we got a look at her we felt our original choice just didn’t suit her. We had selected “Ingrid Josephine” nickname “Indie” but once she was born, she was just clearly more of a “Rowyn Kendall”. Our big kids are still calling her Indie out of habit (which I *think* is plausible given the “in” sound at the end of her name?!) and I’ve unexpectedly caught myself calling her affectionately “Rosie-girl” because of her chubby red cheeks. 🥰 lol… this child may have several pet names. What do y’all think?
Recovery is going well! My underparts are obviously sore but the stitches are a work of art (thank you, doctor!!) and I’m healing nicely with the aid of Tucks pads, Dermaplast, and ibuprofen.
Good luck to all the ladies waiting on their precious babies! Your time is coming soon!
