How to tell my fiancé the going away get together turned into an open house?

My sister has graciously offered to host a going away party for me and my fiancé. We’re moving a few hours away.

I told him and let him know his mom was invited as well as his sisters family. He let her know. My mom just told me my sister wants to turn it into an open house situation with aunts, uncles and cousins. Basically set a time frame and people drop by, have apps and drinks and see us. I don’t know how to bring it up to him. I feel like he won’t want the whole fan fare of everyone there but I don’t want to hurt my sisters feelings if he’s totally against it. I’m fine with it and think it’d be nice to see everyone.
