Ear tubes

Today my son had his one year old check up and his doctor said that he has a blister on his ear drum. He has had several ear infections in the last three months and he recommended we get tubes put in his ears to help. I was told by another mom that I know that tubes can present problems and risks in the future. If any of you have children that have or have had tubes what have your experiences with them been? Thanks!
