I'm not judging others but you have 9 months to save and buy stuff. I see so many baby items on fb and 2nd hand stores that look brand new for less than half the original price. Space can also be rearranged via doing some organizing.

I’ve been bedsharing with my son for his whole life. 15 months. It was definitely unplanned and I was not prepared for it. He absolutely refused the bassinet and crib no matter how many times I tried or different methods I used. I gave up because I was exhausted. The only way we got sleep was him sleeping in our bed. 
The only problem with bedsharing is that parents aren’t equipped with information on how to do it safely. There are safe ways to bedshare but it’s not taught enough.

My daughter is now 3. I refused to share my bed with her, partly out of being afraid I’d hurt her and partly because I’m a stubborn asshole. I lost like 2 years of sleep because of it. She’s always been an awful sleeper. We have tried EVERYTHING. Eventually, I put a bed on the floor in her room and if she woke up at night I would lay down with her and we’d both sleep till morning….vs rocking her back to sleep and trying to transfer her back to bed, which she’d wake up every time. Sometimes I’d be in the rocking chair until 7am trying to get her to sleep.
I am pregnant again and 100% plan to bed share. I was a complete mess with lack of sleep and it’s one thing I wish I would’ve let up on. Society pressures you and makes you think it’s so horrible, but what’s best for YOU is what’s best for you. Whether that’s bed sharing or sleeping in separate beds/rooms.

Just because it's been done for a long time doesn't make it safe. Plenty of babies have been injured or killed bedsharing with their parents. Last year a young woman in my state had her baby in bed with her. She rolled on top of the baby and it died from suffocation. She wasn't in drugs or impaired. She was a tired new mom who fell asleep. Bedsharing can be dangerous and that's why all the major organizations recommend babies sleep in their own space (same room is fine). I think if families cannot afford safe items there should be a program like WIC that helps find safe sleep items that are not expired and in good condition. Assuming the reason is Financial. I do understand some have no choice. But the choice to bedshare even if that's the only choice has consequences. But I guess everything in life has risks

Sorry but if you cant afford a bassinet dont have a kid! I get not being able to have a seperate room. We converted our closet into the baby area where we put the crib and had to put our dresser in the living room but if we couldnt provide a safe environment for baby we wouldnt have had a baby. And im not even against bed sharing! Fuck kids sleep better with someone i totally geg being exhausted and baby wont sleep so u bring it to bed and they fall asleep and suddenly everyone is happily sleeping but i do always support encouraging them in their bed and atleast starting the night in their bed. This article however is stupid
