Pelvic exams

My dr told me that they won’t even look or do a pelvic exam to see if I’m dilated, etc until 38 weeks. I’m 37 now so have a week left. But I see so many people talk about how they had things done at 35,36,37 weeks. Did you ask for them? I told my dr I have horrible cramping pain daily but she just said that was normal and nothing else. I want to know if I’m dilated or effaced 😅

Also, some say they had the sweep done during these weeks. Was that asked for? I am scheduled to be induced in 17 days and I would prefer to go into labor naturally if I could before then. Is that something I can ask for at my next appointment?
