Marriage

So, my boyfriend and I had been dating for three years when I found out I was pregnant(birth control fail). I was previously married and with my ex for 8 years, current boyfriend has never been married. He immediately asked if I wanted him to buy a ring. I was overwhelmed at the time and said let’s a wait a bit, marriage on top of a surprise pregnancy was a bit much for me.

So fast forward 4 years, we’ve got a house, 4 year old daughter( who had health issues when she was born, leading to a tumultuous first two years), and a great life together. BUT we’re still not married. All our friends are now married, his younger siblings(whom started dating after us) are married, and I’m starting to feel like we should have just done it back then.

Should I blatantly ask him? Should I be patient?
