Name ruined??

Question

My husband and I are expecting out rainbow baby this February and we found a name that we absolutely love!! Maverick Ederati Ellis. (Ederati is my husbands middle name and his mothers maiden name and he wants to pass it on. )
We found the name Maberick on a baby list online, neither of us connecting it to the movie Top Gun. We both dislike Tom Cruise and have no interest in seeing it. We now come to find out that the movie "Top Gun: Maverick" is coming out next year and I really dont want to field the obvious question thats coming - "You guys must be huge top gun fans huh??"
I guess its not a huge deal, but what do ya'll think. Deal breaker on the name? Is it ruined?

It’s not that big of a deal. I named my son Sebastian and get told ‘oh from the little mermaid’ no that’s not why but i still loved the name and  who cares. Same with my daughter Amelia. I chose names cause I loved them. I don’t care if they’re popular either

Ngl, I can’t hear the name Maverick without thinking of Top Gun. However Top Gun is an amazing movie, with a huge cast of stars not just Tom Cruise. It’s one of my favs. So I say go for it!

I like the name Maverick! That said, I had a student named Maverick in my class a couple years ago, and many Top Gun references were made.

I think of the old tv show and then there was a movie made with Mel Gibson called Maverick, that’s my first thoughts and I had it on my name list for a possible option for don because of this ☺️

Whenever I hear the name Maverick, I think of the movie Maverick with Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson (I think that's the correct actors). Or I'll think about someone who is quirky and good at slight of hand. I have never seen Top Gun. I just like the name for a boy!

I promise it’s not that big of a deal I named my daughter Esme and everyone always asks me if I named her that because of twilight like ummm no I’ve had the name picked out since before I could remember
