Are placebo pills included in the pack?

What are placebo pills? I’m confused and this is my very first time taking birth control! It’s supposed to help me with my period and I’m sexually active! Does it help with both? Nobody explained this to me and the doctor didn’t explain just prescribed me my pills and take it everyday!

This will depend what pill you’re on. Mini (progestin only) pills you take everyday, none are placebos. Then there are combination pills that are either 28-pill packs that include placebos or 21-pill packs that don’t have placebos (and you take a 7-day break at the end of each pack). What’s the name of your pill? I’d start with googling to see if the manufacturer has a website, they usually have all the facts including how to take it. Or just call/visit your pharmacist and ask (or call your doctor) and they should give a simple but informative explanation of how to take it. If taken correctly, it will be highly effective preventing pregnancy and it should alleviate some cycle issues but that will depend how your body reacts. Good luck!

Placebo pills are basically sugar pills. They're pills with nothing in them. They are often used for mental health, so the person thinks they're taking a legit medication when it's actually a Placebo. Your mind is super powerful and often can fix any depression or anxiety on its own. Which is why drs will prescribe placebos, which will say something else to make you think you're not taking a Placebo. A Placebo is literally just a trick to make you think you're on something to help when really you arent, to see if you really do need something or it's all in your head which often it is. I take a pill for bc and I have a Placebo pill for 5 days during my period. It's essentially there to just help you feel it's regulating at that time but truthfully it's not necessary to take during your period. So if you don't want to take those 5 pills you don't have to, and it will NOT effect your period being regulated.
