Embarrassed after my first time trying anal. Should I be?

So, today was my first time trying anal. 
It's always been something my partner wanted to try, but we just never did. Today he surprised me with some lube and anal beads and I agreed. It was very spontaneous.
It was unsuccessful. The beads were fine, but penetration was too much and we stopped. Afterwards we were talking and I asked how bad it was, and he said, "the mess?" It wasn't at all what I was talking about, but now I'm mortified.
We had a great time and the mood was great, but now instead of today being a sexy memory I'm just.. embarrassed. I guess I'm embarrassed that that's what he saw.

Lol anal is gross in my opinion and this is why, men always talk about it like it's the for bidden fruits and then gently push it until they get it- it's simply unsanitary and painful, can also cause hemmoroids and fissures, I have had a fissure for two years now after doing Anal once. my first time trying anal I had no idea about anything and I pooped two poop pellets right out! Anal training. They have kits you can buy. Start small, work your way up. Never just jump right to a penis. You'll cause more pain/damage doing it that way.

What do you mean by the mess? You shouldn't be embarrassed at all.. maybe he just meant like the lube. My first time & second time it was unsuccessful and painful too, but I wasn't embarrassed we just let it go and tried another time. My advice is to use a tonnn of lube.. make sure he puts some inside of you too, like a lot. When he is about to put it in, push back like you're pooping (tmi lol) but seriously it helps with the pressure and then it feels totally fine
