HUSBAND HAS NO COMPASSION, SELFISH

I feel like I can never just talk to my husband about anything that doesn’t have to do with him. I had a close friend that I had to take a step back from. I am a recovering alcoholic and have been sober for 13 months now. My girlfriend is still drinking and drugging hard… her mom called me to catch up and ask how me and my family were doing… she told me how my friends hair is falling out and she feels like something tragic is going to happen to her… she says she is deteriorating and her kids are suffering. I know that there isn’t much I can do besides reach out to her… any who, I told my husband that her mother called me and he HATES this friend because before me and my husband got married, he really wasn’t the best man to me and she was there for all that…. Him and I had a lot of growing up to do over the past 7 years… but we made it to a place of trust again and I feel like with him being my husband I should be able to just talk to him about ANYTHING.

I told him that I know he doesn’t like her but she was like a sister to me for over a decade so when I get news like this, it’s upsetting. I never want something bad to happen to her. He tells me that her mom shouldnt be calling me and dumping that on me and gets mad at me because I have empathy for her. I know what space she is in bc I was once drowning in alcohol.

I was only on the phone with him for 2 minutes and he made that conversation about him and how he doesn’t like that people don’t understand that we have our own problems and basically fuck her.. then he hangs up the phone on me like I did something wrong..

The way I see it is my husband should be my best friend and I should be able to talk to him and express my feelings to him like he’s my best friend. I think its really selfish when he does things like this… he really has NO compassion for anyone or anything that does not benefit him in some kind of way. I am just not like that…
